Armour Swanson’s Estate-Plan Gift Will Help Support NPU’s Meaningful Mission

Armour Swanson graduated from the North Park College in 1952. “North Park represents an extremely important chapter of my life,” he said.

“As a first-year student arriving from Rockford with a roommate I grew up with, days were filled with expanded opportunities as I both struggled to adjust to life on campus and gained confidence and skills. My second year proved to be most impactful when I discovered a young woman from Omaha, Beverly, who became my wife of 65 years. She passed in 2019.

“Our North Park connections started with rigorous academic challenges and social opportunities, including a chance to play on the basketball team. I valued my service on the Board of Trustees and many rich family and friend relationships that were born at North Park.”

Armour’s progressive career in business and leadership took their family to more than one place to call home, but they always prioritized life in their church and the love and support of family.

The 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award was bestowed on Armour to celebrate his contributions and honor his life of significance and service. Armour has included North Park in his estate plan because he thinks of it as a basic commitment to others when you have been fortunate and a way to help continue the meaningful mission of North Park University.
